RACK 2 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • Windows 7+, macOS 10.9+, or Linux (such as Ubuntu 16.04+)
  • CPU: Intel/AMD 64-bit processor supporting SSE4.2 (2011 or later)
  • Graphics: Dedicated Nvidia/AMD graphics card from 2013 or later with recent driver update
    • Integrated (non-dedicated) graphics such as Intel HD are not recommended and may cause significantly increased CPU usage.
  • Memory: 1 GB
  • Disk space: 1 GB

DAW plugin requirements (Rack Pro only)
  • Plugin compatibility: VST2, VST3, Audio Unit, and CLAP
  • Supported DAWs: Ableton Live, Cubase, FL Studio, Reason, Bitwig, Reaper, Mixbus, Studio One, Cakewalk, Logic Pro, and GarageBand

Other DAWs may run Rack but are unsupported by VCV.

macOS ARM (Apple Silicon, e.g. M1, M1 Pro) notes

Rack 2 is currently only available for x64 (64-bit Intel/AMD CPUs). However, the Rack 2 standalone application can run on Apple ARM machines via Apple Rosetta.

To run Rack 2 Pro in a DAW on macOS ARM, you must launch the DAW using Rosetta (tutorial for Ableton Live), or use a DAW that can sandbox plugins in separate processes (such as Bitwig, Reaper, and Reason). Update: Since Rack 2.2.1, all Audio Unit (AU) hosts on ARM can load Rack AU x64 without Rosetta.

beta build of Rack ARM is available for plugin developers to build and test their plugins on Mac ARM.
